cannot remove device from device group

Hi everyone,

I am creating dg's and adding devices to them. Upon trying to add dev 0d1 to my dg, I received the notification - Symmetrix device 0d1 is already a member of device group umap

Fair enough - I then ran symld -g umap remove 0d1 but then received the notification - Could not select requested device(s) from the specified device group. I tried the -force switch with no avail either.

I ran the symdg show umap and this is the only drive in it.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!!

I figured it out... I was trying to remove the devname 0d1 instead of the ldevname DEV001....

    Thanks again

state of device ? ..in terms of srdf or timefinder ...or the state of the device itself NR or WD ? Either way it does not matter ...just use -force to delete device group that contains members.

if you dont need the group ...run symdg delete umap -force. Then try to add your device again.

Thanks for the quick response as usual!

Does the dev need to be in a certain state before removal (not of the dg but of the dev from the dg)? If not, I will try the deletion of the dg....
