Array Manager won't let me create Virtual Disk

I cannot create a new Virtual Disk in Open Manage Array Manager. I have three new disks that I want to setup as RAID 5. There is only 1 virtual disk currently for this controller. Here's the system setup.

PowerEdge 2500SC
PERC 3/DC versions Firmware 196T Driver 546
(This is what I'm trying to create the virtual disk on The drivers are on a PowerVault 220S)
PERC 3/DI versions Firmware 2.7.1 (3170) Driver 4944, FAST 2.7.1
(This should just be the local drives)

Using Array Manager version 3.4.1 build 532.5 when I go to create a new virtual disk a window comes up to "Select Array Group", both of my options, the 3DC and 3DI are grayed out and cannot be selected. I had tried to use Array Manager 3.5 originally but that had not worked properly and I couldn't login to the machine, additionally it prompts for Verion 2.8.0(6076) for the 3DI controller and I could not find this version on the dell website.

Additionally there is an error on the 3DC controller stating that one of the power supplies needs reconditioning, could this cause my problem?

I desperately need to add these disks as I'm running out of space. Please help.

Well, I got this to work by using the BIOS utility. Array Manager was able to format the drive just fine once I had created it.

    Hi Jason,

There are several issues here which can contribute to the problem.

    1. FAST and Array Manager do not work together, which is probably this cause of the original problem. I would recommend uninstalling FAST altogether.

    2. Array Manager 3.5 includes the version 2.8 firmware and drivers for the Perc 3/di. The install program first warns you of the firmware and then will install them for you.

    3. The "Battery Reconditioning" prompt is coming from the Perc 3/di. This task should be accomplished every six months to ensure proper cache functionality. Once you get FAST uninstalled and the Array Manager installed properly, simply right click the Perc 3/di controller and choose Properties and then Recondition.

    Hi Jason,

One of our other moderators alerted me to something I had overlooked in your original post. It appears you are running the native Operating System (I assume Win2003) drivers for the Perc 3/dc. This is common issue that the Array Manager does not work properly with the native OS drivers.

This is the latest drivers available for each controller:

LSI Logic, Driver, Windows Server 2003, v.6.41.2.32, A03
    CERC ATA 100, PERC 4/sc, 4/dc, 4/di, 3/sc, 3/dc, 3/dcl, 3/qc
    FileName:  perc-cerc-w2k3-6.41.2.32-A03.exe [105 KB]
    Release Date:  2-23-2004
    http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?releaseid=R71521

    PERC 2/qc, 2/Si, 3/Si, 3/Di, Driver, 2003, v.2.7.1.4944, A02
    FileName:  WS03A02.exe [221 KB]
    Release Date:  9/9/2003
    http://support.dell.com/filelib/format.aspx?ReleaseID=R58648

I would also recommend upgrading your PowerVault 220s firmware:

    Dell PowerVault 220S/221S SES Firmware, v.E.17, A06
    FileName:  FUPG_E17.exe [48 KB]
    Release Date:  3/29/2004
