Driver/Firmware Versions

Hello,

I'm wondering . . Is there a way to get a report out that not only tells you what version of any given driver or firmware you are running AND what the latest is?  I'd like to have a comparison report, not just a report that shows me what each server has, but also what it SHOULD HAVE.  I can't find an option of this matter in the reporting module of ItAssistant.  Is it possible with ItAssistant?

Thank you,

KBeau

Hey thanks.  Yeah, I know I can do that with SUU, but not sure if I can get a printable report out which is what I'm looking for.  Something I can take a look at later perhaps.  I get a little tired reading stuff like that on my monitor and like hard copies (I'm old fashioned that way I guess!).

    Thanks!

I don't know if it is possible with IT Assistant, but if you run the latest version of SUU on your system, it will show you the version installed and the latest version available with the option to update.  I think the Content Manager on the SMTD DVD will perform a similar function but will only download the updates relevant to the machine you are on - or the ones you choose (been a while).

DMC has the comparison reports showing the currently installed version and the latest available version for various components in the server, for all servers.

Those can be access by going to patch portal page->Getting started web part->Check applicable updates by computers link

In the resulting page, expand the folders to see the compliance reports links.

    Good luck,

    Rob

P.S. I generally spend my time over in the DMC specific forum.  So you may consider using this for any new posts.  Thx!

Thanks.  I'm not using DMC.  Quite frankly, I did a test drive of that application and did not like it.  I supposed one day I'll have to, but they are going to drag me there kicking and screaming!  LOL

SUU has a command line option, use SUU -c, which will show the results on the screen. One could also do SUU -c > filename.txt, then you could open it with a text editor. There will be alot of junk at the top, but the comparison results will be there too as noted in the SUU users guide on page 39 http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/software/smsuu/2.0/en/PDF/suu2_0.pdf

If you go to the Classic Mode in the ITA Software Update screen you can run a compliance report that will compare the repository with what is on the servers.  It isn't very printable, but it is something.
