PowerEdge T110
Hello, I hope everyone is doing well . I have an older server it's a PowerEdge T110 . when i put in the
it shows that the operating system is Windows server 2008R on the drivers and download page. It's not running Windows I have installed Ubuntu 20.04 on this server but I'm confused with all the available options I've read about how to update your server like idrac, BMC, DRM, & DSUU. I need to update the PE T110 server as i saw the urgency report to update the bios. My bios version right now is 1.3 .
Do i have to install the other 2 previous bios updates in steps or can i update straight from bios 1.3 to the bios version 1.12 ?
Also I installed the DRM but it doesn't list my server PE T110 and I follow the instructions to remove it but it fails to remove . So I created a (DSUU ) Dell system update utility iso and booted into it. its asking where the files are cd,usb/ etc... so should I download the bios file and all other other files that say urgent or just do a flash bios from the cd ? Or should I download the OMAS for Linux and install it ?
My question is what is the best way to update and maintain my Ubuntu server? I'd like to do it local as doing it remotely is not needed. Can someone walk me thru to fix the security issues?
Correct me if I'm wrong, using the on the drivers and download page it states the operating system was Windows server 2008R if I downloaded all of those urgent files will It or may damage/corrupt my server since I'm running Ubuntu 20.04 ?

I thinking this may be easier for me because I don't know the Linux commands to install the bios bin files.
I have the Microsoft product keys still on the server box. I'm thinking I should download the Microsoft server 2008 R2 180 day evaluation ISO file, enter the product key boot it up install all the bios/firmware updates etc.... then reinstall Ubuntu 20.04 . Then I'm good to go . What's your thought on the above?

Being that the T110 doesn't have an iDrac to update from, the solution you provided should work.

Hello everyone.
I am a 100% UNIX/Linux / VMware / macOS guy. I don't have Windows installed anywhere in my home data center.
I have several Dell PowerEdge T110 II servers that need a BIOS upgrade. The latest BIOS update is 2.10.0 (16 Jul 2018
From the above link, the only download is an EXE file. All 3 new T110 II servers I need to update the BIOS on already have Oracle Linux 7.9 installed. Is it safe to say that I must install MS Wind0ze on all three T110 II servers to install the BIOS update? After that, I would have to re-install Linux? I have a colleague that has a copy of Windows Server 2008 R2 if that is what's needed.

File Format:Flash BIOS executable
This file format consists of a BIOS-executable file. To use it, download the file and copy it to a DOS-bootable USB flash drive, then boot the system to the USB flash drive and run the program.

Hi Rodney.
As long as you just update the device's BIOS it will not harm the installed OS.
As the installed BIOS seems to be the release version, I recommend updating step by step.
You also find *.BIN files in the downloads section, so that you can install them via any Linux distribution.
I guess it will also work with Ubuntu, but please keep in mind, Ubuntu is not supported on this system.
So, if you're just going to update the BIOS use those links:

For all the other updates you may continue the same manual way. The T110 is a Generation 11 server, it does not offer the iDRAC update functionality and also is too old to be able to use the bootable update ISO (starting with generation 12).
