Android update will not install venue 3830

Once every two weeks or so, I get a notification that I have an Android update. I click on the Android update and it starts to install and then stops after about 10 to 12 seconds. Then it says error and shuts down then restarts and everything is normal. I am still running Android 4.3 on my Dell Venue 8 3830. I am guessing it is the Android 4.4 KitKat update. Can anyone help me why it will not install? I have had this tablet for month and a half and this is the third or 4th time I've tried to install the update. Can you help me? Why will it not install? is there some setting that I have to change? Or is it a defect in my tablet?

    steveharvey2000,

Plug in the system and power on.

    Click on settings(the gear).

Left column, scroll to bottom, About tablet, system updates, click on check for updates

See if your system will update that way.

    steveharvey2000,

I have had Android Version 4.4.2 installed on my Dell Venue 8(3830) for a long time.

Did you try plugging in the system and try the update?

you do mean plugging in the charger when I try to install the update? I will have to wait until I get sent the update again which could be a week or two. Thank you very much I appreciate it. That never even crossed my mind.

hi Rick, I tried that and it says the system is up to date. I have tried that before and most the time it says system is up to date. I seem to randomly get that Android update once every couple weeks. So I don't expect it until probably towards the end of this month. Hopefully sooner. I do know the 4.3 that I'm running now seems to be ok. I have read on the internet somewhere that the 4.4 KitKat does not seem to get along with the Dell very well. How does your 4.4 work?

    steveharvey2000,

No problems with anything except SKYPE. The app crashes daily, so I removed it for a few days. Guess I should have kept it installed and keep reporting the issue, so it gets fixed.

nope, plugging it in did not help. And downloads to the system but when it tries to install after 12 or 15 seconds error comes up. I've tried it three times since I last posted. Maybe there's something wrong with this tablet. I did buy refurbished. Maybe they changed a setting or something. Any more help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Steve Harvey.

I have gotten two new up dates for the Android 4.4. Even with the power plugged in to the tablet we still will not install. It installs for about 12 seconds then error pops up. Then it shuts down reboots comes back on it still 4.3. I've tried installing it with all the programs I can shut down I've tried installing it doing nothing I've tried installing it on battery only and I've tried installing with the power cord again. Still comes up error. And I seem to get the update every 4 days or so. Please help, any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Calling Dell does not seem to help very much. Thank you, Steve Harvey
