considering they never released a fix for the botched update on the venue 7 tablets a few months ago, i would love to know if theyl be pushing the 5.0 update as well, im tired of the glitches (and no, a reset wont recover from an upgrade flash..)

heck, i cant even get miracast to work on the thing..

Yes , it will get an update because Dell recently launched the new updated 2014 updated versions of Dell Venue 7 and 8 with Android Kitkat out of the box So there are many chances that if those are new tablets so they will get lollipop and so  might us :)

I was told the same thing.  I was also told they'd replace my tablet with a new one.  They lied to me about this one tablet twice.  Straight out.  Not happy.

They now tell me that it's not getting an update, and pretty much that this tablet has been discontinued and they don't care about it anymore.  Not that they ever did.  We were the victims of a horrible mistake Dell made, and they refuse to do anything about it.  I have been dealing with Dell about this issue since Day 1 of using it in September 2014.  I have spent at least 40 hours on the phone with them.  Not only did they refuse to let me return it DURING THE 30 DAY PERIOD, but they aren't even fulfilling their promise of at least giving me a new replacement.  I got this refurbished one with the same exact problem.  How did this thing pass any tests? They think if it turns on and accesses the Wifi, it's good.  They are wrong.

Dell's response to this issue? They may not be saying it, but they do not care.  At all.

I can tell you they lost about 20 customers just from me.  Imagine the amount of other people that dealt with this tablet and will never buy from Dell again.  Customer service should be the most important thing in any business, and sadly it's hard to find good customer service in computer manufacturing companies unless you pay for an extremely overpriced Apple product.  Dell is going to go down because of it.

Sure, some victims are dealing with using one app at a time without complaining, but I'd like to be able to use my email while taking notes, thank you very much.  It's the reason I bought this thing.

Next time, I'm going to Microsoft for a good tablet.  But there won't be a next time anyway.  I'll use this poorly made tablet till it drops dead.  Which is probably soon with this much stress on it just from running.  How did this tablet get good ratings by the "pro reviews"?

Anyway, now that I got my rant out, here is the answer to the question: Dell will not be updating the terrible Dell Venue 3840.

Just wanted to ask the same question!

So Dell, when we'll get Android 5 on Venue 7?

Surely not on November 3rd, but maybe at the end of the month?

    Thanks!

Hope you'll answer here so not to bother you through the support form!

It does not mean anything. Tech-support level one got no idea what's going on in any department.

This is a very important question. It would be great to get an answer from Dell on this one, especially considering the issues with web browsers on the Venue 8 3000 Series.

I believe Dell takes default images from Intel and modify them to make them Dell OTA updates, unfortunately, Intel has not yet released anything newer than 4.4.2 so far (at least publicly). So until Intel makes their images for  your chipsets available, I don't think Dell can do much for you guys.

That's from my guessing, don't take my word for it.
