Question about removing old Java updates?

I have heard it's a good idea to remove/delete old versions of Java due to vulnerabilities.  My question is, does the same logic apply to old Java updates or just old Java versions?  As an example, my computer has listed in the add/remove programs list...Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_3 and J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 2, 4, 6, 9, and 10, each listed separately.  Since update 10 is the most recent(that I know of), should I delete/remove the other updates?

Thanks for the info!

Yes you should remove them all - and the latest version is V6.0 not v5.10
But it is a little hard to find on the java pages.

    you want the version called

    Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6

Thanks, you are a big help!  I didn't know there was a newer version, too.
