64bit 1720
i have a 1720 and was wondering if i installed a T7500 2.2GHz 4M 800MHz SLAF8 CPU will i be able to run win 7 64bit and wll it work with 4GB of ram vs 2GB of ram?

To be sure do 2 things:
Run the crucial system scanner. This will tell you the maximum memory and give you the part no to purchase.
Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, this will access if your system is 64 bit capable.
Dell does not officially provide Windows 7 64 bit drivers for your system however unofficially this driver set should work.

What processor do you have installed in it now? As far as I can tell, all the processors supported by the 1720's Intel xM965 chipset already support 64-bit, and the max for the 1720 is already 4GB.
