Did you uninstall the program totally before reinstalling or did you just try to repair an stuff while the program was still on it. If thats the case, you should completely uninstall it first and make sure all the components are gone and then reinstall it an see what it does -------Update----- My fault, i was responding to a similar incident on another techtalk place. Anyway, ignore the beginning part but follow the rest. You may have some courrupted files associated with the program an they may need to be reinstalled or repaired, so try repairing and reinstalling the program first Also go to this link if you need help with the reinstall, repair, etc.: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/263958

If you received – “The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM …….....”  "Insert the……....disk & click OK”

And everything worked fine after using Office CD, then probable cause was recent MS security update(s)

It has happened to me twice over the years, when trying to open PhotoDraw files, most recently after the mid August 2007 batch of MS updates. Had to insert relevant MS Office 2000 Premium disc

If you want full technical explanation see MS KB article 828450

Sounds like a job for the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility, free here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;290301

Run the utility and point it at Microsoft Excel (or Office, if Excel isn't an option). This doesn't remove the apps from your system, it just kills the installer's desire to install.

Note, you won't be able to remove Excel (Office) using Add/Remove Programs control panel afterwards, because the utility removes the log files needed for that, but the apps will run ok.

Didn't weant to risk the various suggestions in case i got into more difficlties later so I just ignore all the text boxes that come up and keep double clicking on the excel icon until it allows me to right click, select open and .... it works!
