AERO

I have a E1705 with a NVIDIA 7900 Go GS display driver. Aero Theme will not stay in place. Each Restart, Aero is there for a second and then reverts to Windows Classic or Standard Theme. If I change back to Aero, it works. Windows has just sent me an updated Display driver today. Prior to this, after turning Aero on, it would only last for a few minutes. The display would go wacky, and would revert to Classic or Standard Theme. Anyone else having this problem? 4.5 is my Windows Experience Index. Everything on this computer is supposed to support Aero. 2GB RAM, 54 GB hard drive space on an 80 GB hard drive.

It sounds as if one of your startup programs is forcing Vista to revert to a non-Aero interface.
    As a troubleshooting step:
    1. Click Start.
    2. In the start menu search box type MSCONFIG.
    3. Right click the result and click Run as Administrator.
    4. Go to the StartUp tab.
    5. At the bottom, click Disable All.
    6. Click Apply.
    7. Click Ok.
    8. And then reboot the system.
See if Aero is disabled after it's done loading to the desktop.   If it is not, then you need to go back into MSCONFIG and start enabling the StartUp items in groups of 3 or 4, rebooting after each group until you see that Aero is disabled again.   Then you can narrow it down to which startup program is disabling Aero.  You could either leave that specific program disabled from the StartUp's list or just uninstall that program if it's one you never use.

I know that on my XPS700, I have Aero enabled.  When I open Roxio to burn a cd, Aero is disabled until I close Roxio.  Some 3rd party programs just kill the Aero interface for some reason.
