AFN (Armed Forces Network) is beamed to us all over the world thur the use of their own facilities and equipment, yes even here in Italt, we can see American Idol (gag).

 

What external equipment do I need to be able to record from an AFN decoder for a laptop running MCE2005 with no tuner built in.  I have seen a Hauppauge USB decoder which seems to get decent reviews but if someone has a better mousetrap, I'm ready to listen.  Do I also need an infared channel changer?

 

My plan is to use the laptop with MCE2005 (which I did manage to join to a Domain) as the primary interface to record shows to dump onto a server in the house and them retrieve them for later viewing.  All of this will be on a hard wired gigabit LAN.   Thanks isn advance.
