arranging files by name

When I go to view my files they are arranged by name- but backwards so from Z-A. I know I can right-click and arrange it correctly by name but the thing is it's defaulted into going Z-A. How can I default it back to normal so that I don't have to keep right clicking every single time to view it right?

Just exploring my files on the computer and sometimes when you click to browse through your photos or files when uploading to the internet.

I'm still not clear on this.

Click Start, My Documents. You are now in Windows Explorer.

Click the word "Name" which is the column heading for the names of your documents. Click it again, and again. Note that each time you click it, the sort order changes from A-Z to Z-A. Click other column headings. Sort order changes each time.

    Does that help?

I think you're talking about document order in a dialog box like the one that Notepad presents when you click File, Open.

If so, click the "View menu" button [it's at the far right of the Notepad Open dialog box], click Details, and then click the Name heading once or twice. You can do the same with the Date, Size, and Type headings.

I don't think there's a way to make it work differently. You just have to do it every time. :smileysad:

okay I'll give you an example.

I go to photobucket.com to upload some pictures for a website. I click on browse to select a picture I might want to upload. When the window opens to let me choose a thumbnail I want to upload, they're backwards (starting with the letter Z going to A lastly). I click to arrange in order but I'd like it to be defaulted to A-Z.

when I just go to my documents they're already A-Z so it'd odd it's only when I'm in a browsing window online that it's messed up.

    does that help?
