As suggested by mombodog, you may get better advice from CD/DVD experts if you post more details
Meanwhile: Yes, closing down in the middle of a burning session will probably turn your CD into a coaster, but if you mean using same CD to add more picture or song files (multi-session), then yes you can, but it depends on a number of factors, the obvious one is capacity (MB) of CD being used
Other factors include features in the burning software bundled with CD drive, CD format type being used & default WXP DLA (Drive Letter Access) utility
For example, some burning software provide options like no multi-session or finalize disc after burning, using such options effectively write protecting the disc so no more files can be added
Even if not used most software provides the Make Compatible option, enables CD to be played on other non-installed DLA type PCs
Make Compatible is not available for all CD type formats, e.g. CD-RW, but (if desired) can be used for CD-R format (closed but not finalized) up to a maximum of 15 times so that files can be added, if used for DVD-R or DVD+R formats the disc will be closed & finalized (becomes write protected)
For more details on DLA, CD/DVD formats & the Make Compatible options either:
Click Start > All Programs, point to bundled burning program (e.g. Sonic) & look for DLA click on DLA help
Or, Start > double click My Computer > right click on media drive (e.g. CD-RW) & select Properties > click on the DLA tab > click on the link Learn more about DLA
