I have a dell lap top that is old and has windows XP on it. Service for XP has expired and I keep getting messages to up date my computer. Can you down load a new system to replace XP on an old computer on line or do you have to buy a program?

Linux is free, but you'll have to pay for Windows. An additional consideration is that newer versions of Windows may not be compatible.

Provide your model of Dell so we can give you more information if the upgrade to Windows 8.1 is feasible and cost effective.
