Dell PC Replacement Suite

My new Dell PC is being shipped to me now.    Am receiving the PC Replacement Suite software with it.

Do I need to migrate my data by way of removeable media (external HD) or can I connect by cable (like with Detto Intellimover)?

Detto comes with a special data transfer cable (parallel or USB).  Does the Dell version?

If it doesn't, can I use a regular USB cable?

If anyone is ever interested... it comes with both a parellel and a USB cable for data transfer.

It worked fairly well.  It transfered a few things I didn't expect it to, but that was because I hadn't thought it through.  For instance, since I had it set to transfer text files, it transfered every readme file on the old computer, even those whose programs I hadn't transfered.

It gives you a transfer history file so that you can see everything it transfered.  Even though I had some cleanup to do afterward, it was much quicker than transfering things piecemeal.  Although you can only do one data migration, you can continue to use it for file transfers as many times as you want.  So if you miss anything in your migration, you can pick it up afterward.

Did you have as much problems using the Replacement Suite migration software as I have had?  I've spent 3 days, many phone calls to Detto for support, they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work, promised to email an attachment for another version (which I've never gotten), so I finally figured it out myself.  I hope my experience was NOT the norm!
