Help Please

I've tried to reformat my dell 3000 about 3 times. Everytime I try, the appearance is always set as a certain resolution and color and will not change. Not only that but when windows comes up it doesnt have anything on the desktop except recycling bin which for some reason was at the lower right corner of the desktop. The appearance is all distorted. How do I fix this or reformat it properly?

    hi musgrove07

as you have done reformat of your hard drive there is nothing on your hard drive it just has the operating system installed that is why you are getting the recycle bin icon you need to install all the software back again like video audio application............. in the system. please use the dell dimension resource cd to install the chipset, video, audio, network card make sure you install the in a proper sequence as shown below dont install any other software before you install the dell dimension resource. you will find all the driver and application steps on

    http://support.dell.com

    1} Chipset drivers

    2} Video adapter

    3} Audio driver

    4} Network driver

    good luck and god bless

Hover over the Product Support button at the top left of this page . . click on Drivers & Downloads . . navigate to the video drivers for your model . . download and install them.  While you are there, you might want to download and install the Chipset and any other drivers you need.

The Recycle Bin only is the default for XP . . Right click on the Start button and select Properties . . from there you can change the Desktop to your preferences.
