Intel Matrix storage manager
By a little mistake i manually desintalled Intel Matrix storage manager from my XPS M1530 with Windows Vista Home Premium. Now I am not sure which edition of Intel Matrix storage manager i have to download(software or driver?). If somone could give me a detailed explanation of what i have to do(from downloading to installation).

Hmm i think i only deleted part of the program and that the drivers that runs the hardware are still in my computer. If the program is so importnat for the computer im sure it would appear in a CD when i got the laptop, or i wuldn't be able to had deinstalled it.
By the way, i cant manage to find the folder that should install it in my computer

I followed all instructions, but when it comes to run the program it only leads me to the folder not to the instalation496

Go to this page
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/sb/CS-025753.htm
select Mobile Intel® PM965 Express Chipset column, slide over to the right and select "Intel® Matrix Storage Manager1"> Download
then select your Operating System "Vista" Hit Go button, then download the fist one in the list, then on the next page scroll down and download the "English" version.
Or click THIS link to download directly and avoid the half dozen or so pages to get to it.
This is the "software" you need to replace the one you removed, it is not on the Dell site for that model and Vista.

At last i managed thanks very much for the solution :) i was scared my computer could crash without that program, but now i feel releiefed.. Thanks a lot again496

really not true if you are running a raid array, otherwise I agree.

Even with RAID it is useless. RAID is setup using the RAID BIOS. Only thing the Matrix Storage Manager does is to display the RAID.

How wrong you are, if you do get a raid error and it marks the disk with an "error state" even if you cure the problem the only way to clear the mark is to use MSM.
You can also use MSM to turn on or off features like NCQ if the drive has it......
