Internet Explorer quits every time it is run

Every time run Internet Explorer, it just quits and then the "send error report" thing comes up.

I suspect this may be some type of virus because both my computers had this symptom almost simultaneously. But my Antivirus software cannot catch or clean anything...it says I'm virus-free (my definitions are up to date).

The event log states:

Faulting application iexplore.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module unknown, version 0.0.0.0,...

I've tried removing and adding Windows components...no luck
I've tried reinstalling IE6...no luck
I'm no expert in the regedit area, so I did not mess with it.

Any other suggestions other than re-installing the entire operating system?
