Lock ups

Whenever I log on, my pc freezes after Windows starts and the icons pop up.  I am using Windows ME.

I have run the computer in safe mode, it will boot up and shut down.
I ran msconfig with the selected startup and the startup options unhighlighted.  It will let me start up and shut down but if I try to open files from any application, the pc freezes.

I reinstalled Windows ME and it still is doing the same thing.

I tried to restore the system from an earlier time and no improvement.

My computer is connected to a router and shares printers between another pc but that has been in place for more than a year.  The other pc is working fine.

Also, the bootlog.txt file contains the following failure information:

LoadStart = C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\lcd.ttf
LoadFail = C:\WINDOWS\FONTS\lcd.ttf Failure code is 0002

Also this is in the bootlog

    It would help to know your specific system model, but for starters, you might want to try removing and reseating the memory and PCI cards, as well as consulting your system documentation for instructions on running the Dell Diagnostics on the system, to check for hardware problems.  The floppy diskette version of the Diags is usually the most reliable version.

    The IRQ Holder/Error Code 22 messages are considered normal, and can usually be ignored.

    Brett:

    How did you reinstall ME? Onto a newly formatted drive (i.e., clean) or over the old installation?
