No system Restore and system config ?

XP professional ...... My computer will not restore to previous restore point.
I am trying to do  this as when trying to install a wireless PC card it says the drivers cannot be intstalled.  I went into system config/services and it says Installed driver manager..stopped  does this mean anything? I had the card working for a year but when I tried to install a router it froze computer so I unistalled everything.  I have bought new  card and been in contact with support NO GOOD
Thanks Bette

Did you uninstall the old driver for the previous wireless card?

YES.......I have tried this with a netgear card and a linksys.......... each time the installation runs and then tells me to insert card and then when it attempts to install the driver it stops and says it cannot finish installation  drivers not installed......... I have gone to each support site and downloaded newest drivers............. one site says that you need to do this because of the xp patch?  I do auto updates.

Best to look in Add/Remove programs and uninstall all wireless card devices and start from scratch, in my opinion.

Be sure to restart your computer after the uninstall.

Read your cards manufacturer instruction on the proper way to install the card and it's driver.

Yes that is the way I removed it............ I have looked in hardward devices also....... nothing there....... I have been in contact with technical support in each case....Linksys and netgrear....... they have been no help.........My netgear card worked for one year......then I installed the netgear router: it then froze the computer when the card was installed and that is what started the problem...........
