Operating system issues
I started a new thread to explain in detail more. I am working on a friends machine ,its a Dimension 8400 windows xp 64 bit.
Noww my friend lost all of the software discs that he recieved from Dell, so basically i have to look for everythin...no biggy, but .
I am trying to reinstall with windows xp home edition because its all i have in my posession right now and its only 32 bit ,I tried the drivers from the dell support page but did not knoe that the machine had 64 installed on it ,now i have looked high and low for the specific drivers so the drive gets recognized (you know at the point you hit F6 during the initial set up stage)and there are 2 choices one about Raid (which i have no use for and i am not sure the exact wording of the other one , something in the area of AHCI (Not sure) tried both choices and i get an error each time which is as follows
File iaStor.sys caused and unexpected error(4100)at line2113 in D:\xpsprfm\base\boot\setup\oemdisc.c.
Now i tried and did a little research out there and to no avail ...nothing. Now the only thing i could think of is where it says D that is the drive that the install disc was in...which made me stop everthing and and got machine up and running again just to boot and found out it had XP Home 64 bit edition .
Now where can i find XP home sata drivers to correct this fresh install ......
THANK YOU ! All help is appreciated.

Dell does not support 64 bit OS on that system and thus does not have anything in the downloads. However, since that is an Intel system, you MAY be able to use the Intel site downloads.
According to the Dell manual the chipset is: Intel 925X Express or Intel 925XE Express
But, basically you are "on your own" for 64 bit operation on that machine.
