Partition "Unknown" Error 1327

Hi, put this post in hard drive section then realised this might be better thread.
Just replaced HD on Inspiron 6000, great service from Dell. Anyway, I decided to create a partition when I initially installed WinXP for FS9 plus addons. The partition was known as E drive at this point of the installation and later after I installed XP changed its volume to "Flight". It was running OK until the next day when I turned laptop on and I got this error message while running a completely different program in a different drive (C)! Message went like this "Error 1327 . Invalid Drive: E:\". Now It won't even recognise the partition in Explorer. However if I right click on "My Computer" and then click on "Manage" I get into Computer Management. Then I click on "disk management" and I can see my partition but it says "Unknown partition" and I only have option of deleting it. What has gone wrong and is there anything I can do to correct problem?

Thanks

Thanks for reply, I could not see any "import" at all (not even greyed out). What I have done is delete the partition, which was the only option I was given (all others were greyed out), and create a new one as an extended partition not a primary partition. So far so good, yet to load stuff into it!

In disk management on the right side lower pane there are two sections for the drive "unknown"

The left box displays Disk 0,1,2,3 ect  then to the right of that you have the Drive letter , right click in both of these area's to see if there is an "import" option. If so, import foreign disk.

yours will be E of course.

Now received a different error code when I open same unrelated program on drive C, which is searching for a program thats been formatted in partition. (are you with me!) Tried to clean out broken shortcuts and other rubbish from registry. This time its 1706 with a windows installer dialog box and I have to cancel aboot 10 times to get rid of it!
