Has anyone experienced this problem before? My computer (laptop- inspiron 600m) will frequently go to a bright blue screen and tell me a serious problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage. Microsoft will respond to my error report by saying it is a device driver. I haven't installed anything on my computer in forever though. THe stop error message also tells me to disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing but I have no idea how to do this. Can anyone help me? I can't even use my computer anymore b/c this error occurs everytime I use it.
If anyone could be of any help I would appreciate it so much! Thank You!
I've got a desktop 4550 that has been doing the exact same thing. It only does this when I shut it down, maybe one time in five. Really drives me crazy though. I've tried talking to all sorts of support people but they don't seem to have a clue what I'm talking about. I'm open to suggestions.
I'm having the same problem. I can't get signed on to fix anything! A little frustrated, but know there's an answer somewhere. Help!!! Technical info screen's reading
I am facing the same problem? My computer (laptop- inspiron 5160) will frequently go to a bright blue screen and tell me a serious problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage. Microsoft will respond to my error report by saying it is a device driver. I haven't installed anything on my computer in forever though. THe stop error message also tells me to disable BIOS memory options such as caching and shadowing but I have no idea how to do this. For me as of now its give on and off.
These memory dumps can be caused by overheating. Search for the thread on heat sink replacements for the 5100 series. Maybe this thread link will work:
You can reduce the heat by blowing out the dust inside and out. Clean the heat sink and cpu and re-apply new thermal paste. Possibly look at purchasing a notebook fan cooler base.
To DJGroove,
Thank you for your response!
Unfortunately, it is too late for this system..:(
I am attending a Vo-tech, studying Computer Repair, and was doing OJT when this was encountered. This system had been upgraded to a really fast machine.
The man who owned the business told the client, "your entire system is burned up, and must be replaced". The customer bought a new system....from him, of course, and he proceeded to use the parts in his own machine. I was shocked. But, sadly, this seems to be his mode of operation. I couldn't make myself stay with the business, because, I kept seeing me when I knew nothing about computers, knowing I had also been taken in by corrupt practices, which is why I am in school in the first place....................sure gives technicians a bad reputation when crooked ones are so prolific............:(
But, I have filed this information for my own use, and I surely appreciate you help!
I am Graduating in May, and then I will concentrate on straight shooting with my customers!! Honesty will build a strong customer base, or that is what I am hoping!
