I have a shared printer for two computers. Laserjet. I wasn't getting any printout in Internet Explorer. So I check it out further. I browse through My Network Places/ Computers Near me, and I notice that the second computer with the printer actually is not showing up at the moment. Only the computer I type at shows up. Now, it has always worked just fine for months. I don't recall any change occur lately. Maybe I could ask another user. But I'm not sure what. Anyone here might have a thought about it?
I do have a firewall. Though I do have it turned off at the moment.
So everything has been working in the past and has now stopped working? How is your network set up? Can you think of anything you've done that may have changed things?
Yes. Everything was always working perfect in the past!
It's just basically two computers connected together through a hub. Maybe you call peer peer network.
The only thing of late is I believe the Internet went down late last night. But all web pages and so forth arrive no problem with either computer right now. Otherwise I might wonder if anyone moved any cables.
I tried pinging the second machine via its IP address. It just says Request Timed Out several times.
I also tried shutting down both computers. And I was real surprised to find that had no effect on the problem once all were powered up again.
I'll check if anyone installed any software lately. I don't know of any.
We have Norton Security. But it sure does seem to be saying the firewall is disabled.

Reset the hub. Turn it off, turn off PCs. One minute later turn on hub. Wait a minute, turn on PCs.
