lol, okay on your desktop, when you right click the my computer icon, and you select system properties, a window comes up... it tells you how much ram and how fast the cpu is. it also tells you who the manuafacterer is like IBM now Lenovo or Dell or HP and it has there logo and a support button. When you format the hardrive that is no longer there. I know someone who created their own... now do you get what im saying?265

Forget that stuff about editing the oeminfo.ini for now. If it exists, you can play with it later. If it doesn't exist, you'll need to create it per the link Denny gave. That's for the support button stuff. The oemlogo.bmp must be less than 160*160 or 25600 pixels total. That's why I just grabbed the Gone Fishing.bmp, pasted it into the C:\Windows\System32\ folder. I then renamed the Dell oemlogo.bmp to oemlogo.bmk. Then I renamed the Gone Fishing.bmp to oemlogo.bmp. Now my Dell Logo has been replaced by the Gone Fishing bit map picture.

Hey Ravik521,I just did it again using the Bliss.bmp found in the C:\windows\web\wallpaper\ folder. Of course, it only showed the middle of the picture, but it worked also.Thanks to Denny for helping with the need for creating the oeminfo. ini (not inf) file in the C:\Windows\System32\ folder if it doesn't exist.TonyMessage Edited by tgsmith on 12-12-2005 01:44 PM

Yes it does. Try this. First go to C:\windows\system32\ folder. Rename oemlogo.bmp to oemlogo.bmk. Now copy Gone Fishing.bmp to C:\Windows\system32\. Rename Gone Fishing.bmp oemlogo.bmp. Presto. Right click on My Computer. Left Click on properties. Voila! Manufactured and supported by Gone Fishing.

If you do not have an oeminfo.ini file, that is why it is not working for you. Simply placing a different oemlogo.bmp will not cause a display unless there is also an oeminfo.inf file. Just copy this from the link into Notepad and save it in C:\Windows\system32 as oeminfo.ini and you should see the modified general tab.

Never occurred to me that Ravik521 didn't have an oeminfo.ini in his System32 folder.
