This Program Cannot Display The Webpage

I get this message frequently...several times a day. Click on the link again will almost always bring it up. I don't have a clue what program the message is referring to...I use MSN 9 with IE7. This has occured several times in the last day or two on the Dell Forums, but it seems to be equal opportunity annoyance and can happen on other sites also. It might be my imagination, but it seems if I push the mouse button harder it will work...or perhaps the second push is what it needs.

Anyone have a clue to what might be causing this...perhaps something loose in the circuits...or is just another Windows quirk?

Just a few minutes ago I tried to access my Yahoo e-mail account and got the message that "Internet Explorer Cannot Access This Webpage". It came right up on second attempt. :smileyindifferent:

Try disabling the phishing filter temporarily, see if the behavior stops.

I already had it turned off, but there was an article in the morning paper's "Tech Fix " column about this kind of problem, and it suggested to make sure that both the SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 boxes are checked in the Advanced tab in Internet Options. The 2.0 wasn't, and I don't know enough about SSL to know if this was making a difference or not. We will see if the problem occurs again.

Would guess that SSL causing web page problems only occurs when the web page requires secure personal data transfer.

Only time I came across SSL causing problems was when trying a particular on-line purchase back in 2004.

Couldn’t progress through the purchase process so clicked on the web site page help link, instructions included the need to uncheck Use SSL 3.0 box, a bit surprised & cautious since SSL2 protocol is less secure than SSL3.

But it worked, reset SSL back to SSL3 after purchase was completed.

Decided to investigate & discovered it was true (at least in 2004) that some Web sites do not support SSL3.
