Unable to reformat computer.
I'm trying to reformat my Dell 8400 in preparation for my new RAM that I'll be getting. I insert the OS disc that came with it, enter the setup and put the boot sequence to Onboard or USB CD ROM device. Save and exit, then I get the error message: -No boot device available. So I get back into Windows and put random media CD's in the drive. One drive works fine, however the other one won't read CD's anymore. I can't access the contents of CD's with one CD ROM, so I disable the one and repeat the procedure again with the good one. Same problem. Why can't I reformat my computer?

1) Are you sure that the CD you have is a boot CD? It seems that is not.
2) Can you boot without the CD?
3) WHY do you want to reinstall and format your hdd if you only want to add some memory? This makes no sense. - You need to set the CD drive that works as Master . . then it should boot . .
