Hi, I have the usb 2.0 enhanced controler on my computer but have a question about its functionality. When I use a flash drive ,sd card,or external hard drive it takes 30+ seconds to transfer 30mb of pictures. All these devices are usb 2.0. I have used every port with the same results. I was under the understanding that usb 2.0 speeds were up to 400 mbps. I do not get any messages that say I am plugged into 1.0 port with these devices. Obviously this is far slower than expected as it is only copying at 1mbps. Is there a reason for this that I am overlooking? In device manager it says all is well with the devices. Thank You for any input you may have.

1mbyte per second is slow for USB2 (even USB1 could do that according to spec). That said, SD cards in particular were never that fast. I'd suggest that the problem is with the reader/media and not with the connection.
edit: did some checking and even bad SD cards should be able to achieve 6Mbytes per second or so

NemesisDB, thanks for your info. I have a Maxtor one touch11 extrenal hd and it is also usb. The transfer rate backing up my computer( 9 gigs ) is about one hundred ninty five MB per minute. This breaks down to about only 3 MB per second. I guess something is just not working properly. It is unlikely that all my sd cards, flash drives and ext hd are not functioning correctly. Thanks Again, any other input will be appreciated

USB just never seems to live up to its' claims. I have the Maxtor OneTouch with both USB and 1394 connection so I can compare the performance side by side.
The 1394 always wins but in this case they are so close that it wouldn't matter.

Don't confuse Mbps (your images) with mbps. See the real-world results of USB 2.0 testing here.
