Vista Upgrade canceling process

I tried to register my upgrade 4 times.  The system took me through the credit card info entry and shutdown with a message "Service Not Available".  Has my credit card been charged 4 times.

THis is the biggest Customer Service Screwup I have ever encountered.  Dell has sold a product with a promise that they can't support.

I bought my computer in January - ready for Vista - and up to now whenever I enter the dell vista upgrade my computer is not entered.  I called twice and until now they always tell me they will register it and they don't.  I am wondering what is going on and when I read your messages I am quite upset...  Vista is already sold here in Montreal and we cannot have it.  When they ask for your Visa card it is to pay what exactly?  Myself I cannot even check as my computer is not entered yet

The credit card is to pay for the shipping / handling charges.

What a useless answer Pcgeek.. are you sure you are not Jmwills in disguise ?? lol

I received my system November 28th. I have been trying since then to redeem my so called express upgrade coupon and it continually tells me my system does not quailfy. I have called Dell more than 10 times now and filled out all forms they have asked me to. Not one single person has been able to give me a reasonable answer to date and I have very little confidence that my service tag will be recognized by March 31st seeing that after all this work on my part my tag is still not being recogniced after 8 weeks of receiving the system.

This must be be an all time worst fiasco on Dells part and surpringly they are not saying one word about it all except giving customers a run around.

I say Dell should send cheques out to all affected customers so we can go to the nearest retailer and buy a full (not upgrade) version of Vista.

So please do not come to these forums telling us to wait till March 31st or make comments top that effect as you obviously have no idea of the frustration and running around that is being done by a lot of customers who bought systems from Dell with the so called express upgrade coupon in good faith expecting to be dealing with a reputable company who will stand behid their promises !!

Dell should make a Vista complaint forum dedicated to all those moaning about that they can't reedem there express upgarde. It's very obvious Dell are very busy on the express upgarde program and lots and lots of people are trying to reedem. Its not like your in a rush to get your upgarde they are shipping in 4-8 weeks and the upgrade site goes withing 31st march you've got plenty of time to reedem

And pray do tell what you feel is useless about this thread.  Please offer constructive advice to peoples questions on here rather than acting like 'the freaking forum police' as another user on here has correctly stated.

The two of you have been doing nothing but criticising other peoples posts. We may not all be wise, intelligent and Dell fearing like you but we still would like an informed answer that will satisfy us. An answer which no one has been able to give us so far.

Dell knows exactly how many express upgrades they have sold and they also knew that everyone would wait until the product actually came out to register.  This is just good marketing.  This rush should have been anticipated or better yet, the registration and upgrade should have been automatic when the computer was ordered and shipped and the shipping cost should have been added to the original cost of the computer.

What if the problem still exists on March 31st?  They have had 2 months to fix it already.
