I have seen so many posts about the problems that vista users are having.
Why, after...
5 years in the process
Spending millions of dollars
50 million lines of code in vista
...are there so many posts about the problems that vista users are having. And, after 4 1/2 months since vistas release, why are there dell systems (including my prefered xps 710 H2C) that arent yet fully tested and choosable with vista, so therefore only do xp or media centre? can someone say, if known, when it will be sorted?
I really don't have problems with vista. Except that horrible defrag wait time. Other than that my problems are from progrms that hhaven't been made compatible with vista.
People are going to have problems with diffrent os's no matter how long it stays in beta. It just happens. People still post everyday with diffrent problems they have in XP.
You said when will Vista be problem free, NEVER what windows are free from problems
you think XP is read the post there if you think it is.:smileyindifferent:
You said why are there dell systems (including my preferred xps 710 H2C) that aren't yet fully tested and choosable with vista, NO ONE CAN TELL YOU THAT HERE
You said Why are there so many posts about the problems that vista users are having:smileysurprised:
because of drivers and very little Vista USABLE software..
Or you can Call this # 1-800-www-DELL and ask Dell i am sure you will get help there.
when will XP ever be problem FREE,looks like NEVER:smileymad:
WHY after how many years has XP been out are there so many posts about the problems that
XP users are having.
Now that really got me to thinking, did it you???
By all rights there should be none don,t you think so ???LOL:smileyvery-happy:
Agree with both posters above, but GioAguilar said it best..."
Never "
Even to this day Windows XP has issues, and patches are coming out each month. My Vista, both the 32 bit version, and the 64 bit version have not had any issues to report. Reason others do, are many. One is the fact they are installing it on a old system, old hardware, did not download a more current Vista driver, have RAID configured Hard drives, the sound card that is installed, not Microsofts issue, but the company that failed to get the driver ready for the hardware they sell. List goes on, and, on as to why Vista is having some issues with some individuals. Not to mention some are noobs, and do not know what they are doing is another classic reason, and they want to blame anyone and everyone, but themselves.
I have both Vista and Windows XP disks, but only use Vista now. Will not go back. Finally found where to find most everything, which is another reason some get frustrated at. Its a new Operating System and some find it more difficult to get around a new OS
Combine the above with millions of hardware configurations, and you have your answer. There is no way the Microsoft dev team can anticipate every problem that any user might face with a given hardware configuration. As it is now, they do a pretty good job releasing hot fixes as problems arise.
I personally have not had any technical problems with Vista so far, although some of the "features" bug me.
To answer the other part of your question, Dell will begin to ship other models with Vista preloaded when they've decided decent support can be offered for the OS. Without knowing what problems are standing in the way of this, I can't really give you a date this will happen.
I had some issue with Vista initially but since the last Video Driver update in April for my ATI Rad 1300 Display card, I have not had any problems. I think a lot of the problem were related to the display diriver software. Have had similar problem with XP on my laptop and finding a new display driver made the whole machine more stable.
Microsoft has had a fair number of updates also through windows update service. But I find my Vista and programs I use really stable now.
hi Tim, most people here have already given very good answers, here's my 2 cents:
All software and hardware are man made, therefore imperfect. when XP first came out, it had same if not more problems, then we fixed them as we chugged along. SP1 and SP2 made it very stable and workable. most of the problems are due to hardware and software makers not getting ready when they should with drivers and patches. some are things the OS maker (MS) has missed which again goes back to the first equation: man made = imperfect. so wait for SP1 for Vista by year's end.
as to your concern with the 710H2C not available with Vista, that was hardware issues which Dell had uncovered and they will probably never offer the unit with Vista. As of today the new XPS720 H2C is available with Vista... however if you are into gaming stick with XP for now as Vista is not quite prime time ready for games; see here:
As with anything, never. I got my e1705 in January with XP MCE. Then got my Vista kit a month later. I have not installed it yet as many GOOD drivers did not exist. Dell has issues with Vista as well. Such as the MediaDirect issue. I got my laptop with MD to use, not get rid of the software when Vista comes along and have a useless button. But I read somewhere it has been fixed. I'll take it with a grain of salt. I'm gonna wait until SP1, which to me signals the end of real-world beta testing, to install Vista.

When will Vista be problem-free...??? NEVER.
You'll never get anything perfect in here, solutions will come to the problems, but more problems will come. Welcome to the real World...
Just get used to the problems, and learn how to fix them
