I just went to Windows Update to check again; this time I timed it and I also installed two KB updates and that Windows Malicious Tool one.
I clicked the "custom" button for the scanner.... it took 33 seconds to give me the list of available updates. I chose three of them......
From the time I clicked "review and install updates" to the finish of "reboot your computer" was 83 seconds. That's actually about the fastest I've ever noticed here.
Maybe it's a slowdown in your specific location ????? Don't know what else it could be............
When I clicked the update shield in the tray by the clock yesterday, nothing happened. It just sat there showing 0% downloaded for hours, very late last night when there shouldn't have been so much network traffic.
Today I went directly to the MS site today and allowed it to "custom" scan my system for required updates. It took
2 hours before the list of updates finally appeared and another 2 hours to download them. Grrrr....!
That's definitely a strange one.... Can't understand it.
I got mine so darn quick this morning. I wonder if location has anything to do with it? I'm in Massachusetts, if that matters..... however I doubt that it would make much difference.
Maybe I just got lucky at precisely the right time....
I sent email to MS update help site, before I managed to get the downloads to work. They retrieved the windowsupdatelog from my system and just sent me an email saying there's a STOP error in the log. They gave me a bunch of things to do to fix it.
You may not have the same error, so telling you what I'm supposed to do may not work on your system. Try contacting them directly. It's totally free and the email is very thorough and detailed. Follow the Help&Support link on the update site.
