Windows XP Home shutdown

Is it normal for Windows XP - Home to have a long shut down time, my screen indicates the normal "Windows is shutting down" for about 30-40 sec before the computer will turn off. XP pro on my other computer doesn't take that long to shut itself down. Just curious.

Cheers

You may want to see what programs are causing the  system to wait so long to shut down,

Try using msconfig click services then place a check mark on hide all microsoft services then click the StartUp Tab and uncheck those items and then reboot the system process of elimination.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310353 is the Microsoft KB on clean booting the system. Something running is causing this to happen

Try what TucsonJohn suggested. When I had XP Pro installed it took a good 20-30 seconds to completely power down.

OT here, but TucsonJohn -- are you really in Tucson? I go to school at the U of A.
