I just got my xps 15 this week and im setting it up for gpu rendering, and I want to utilize both the internal gtx 1050 card and the egpu at the same time ( a razer core x with a titan X pascal card ). When I plug the egpu the internal card (1050 ) seems to crash or something.. and in device manager it says it has a code 43 error. Anyone here know how to fix this? I know other systems are able to run both. Im using C4D with octane and redshift. Thankyou
From some basic research reading threads on Egpu.io that I found by Googling "eGPU dGPU simultaneously", it seems that being unable to run both simultaneously is pretty common. This thread in particular mentions that you need to be able to use the same drivers for each GPU, so the fact that you're trying to run a GeForce 1050 and a Titan X at the same time (as opposed to something like a GeForce 1050 and GeForce 1080) could be the issue. If you've already got the latest drivers and firmware installed for various components (system, system TB3 controller, eGPU enclosure if applicable) and you're still encountering this issue, I don't think there's anything you're missing that would make this start working. You might simply be stuck with that particular GPU combination.
