XtremIO Replication Options
Hi Experts,
I was exploring the replication options available with XtremIO. I have listed them below, Please let me know if my understanding is correct.
1) XtremIO with Physical RPA - No Synchronous option available, only asynchronous replication as this uses snapshot shipping.
2) XtremIO with Recoverpoint for VM - Can provide for both synchronous and asynchronous option. However works only for VMware. no other hypervisor supported, So other hypervisors like Hyper- V are ruled out along with physical hosts.
3) XtremIO with VPLEX - Provides for both Sync and async replication.
4) XtremIO with VPLEX + RP - Best among the 4 options available. Provides for both Synchronous and asynchronous replication + any point in time recovery. No limitation in terms of Physical or Virtual Hosts type.

If you are a VMware shop, you can also replicate your VMs with Site Recovery Manager.
I better understanding of your environment could help point you in a right direction.
Can you use the vRPA's to replicate if you had iSCSI connections on the XtremeIO if the op wanted to mirror the volumes?

XtremIO with RecoverPoint (option 1) will also provide multiple point in time recovery options on the DR site.
