I do agree Dell needs to provide the relevant information here on this board, so owners who post here about it receive an answer. If they are selling it already it should not be this difficult to get the relevant answer(s) as to what is going on with this XMP memory.

Its 4800Mhz, but clocked at 4400Mhz.  My March build R13 was exactly the same..  They quoted 4800Mhz on that too, but clocked it at 4400..

I think you need to forget about XMP.  It's just not going to happen in the R13

Interesting. So no point in ordering the 4,800 Mhz version at this point in time as you would be running it at 4,400 Mhz going by what you say.

If that is the case, disappointing...

But the fact they offer the 4800 with xmp as an option would mean they are working on getting xmp validated; why even put it out there if they have no intentions?  I spoke to Kingston and they are indeed working with Dell on xmp-though the ram stick maybe proprietary.  Does not make sense to order the ram without xmp when it is the same price as ram with xmp.  Order the xmp version and cross fingers.

XMP is just a profile with preset settings. The problem with XMP profiles, especially the higher Mhz ones, is motherboard design. The higher the frequency the better the board traces between CPU socket and memory need to be designed.

I am hoping I am wrong, but I don't see how you would improve that without a new board revision.

I just wish we could get an official response in here explaining what exactly is going on with the XMP statement.

This is true . . . they are offering XMP memory up to 32GB max on the sales page now; this is new.

@DELL-Chris M sent an internal email a couple of weeks ago to inquire about what the situation is on the Twitch-announcement that Kingston Fury XMP RAM would be being released for the Aurora R13. He hasn't posted any updates since, so I assume he hasn't heard anything back at this point.

It's really frustrating and unprofessional when public announcements are made about product releases, then nothing is released and there is silence from Dell.

You really could not make this up. If I have this right, Dell are offering expensive "upgraded" 4800 XMP memory on there website that runs at exactly the same speed as the memory I already have because of the R13's limitations. I would be wanting my money back because what there advertising is clearly not what your getting. 

If true no wonder Dell are not saying anything, what is there to say?

* Correct. I have sent several emails to Alienware teams. I did add the new memory part numbers to the FAQ Aurora R13 with additional questions based on the sales site verbiage.

This is what Dell was advertising when you ordered your R13 . . . did you get something different?
