Aurora R3, modded A07 Bios? #3

Am I confused about something? You do not need a modded A07 BIOS for UEFI support? I don't know what the case is, it is like a hybrid of BIOS/UEFI (BIOS in the sense that it looks like the old BIOS with no mouse support, and UEFI in the sense that UEFI works!). There is no EFI shell, but that doesn't matter. I have does windows 7-10 in UEFI and debian and arch linux UEFI.

What is this modded A07 supposed to give?

Correct; my 1070 works just fine with no mods required or any issues. However, when I gave the 1070 to my son and moved to an RX570 due to my lighter gaming needs, I did need to modify the RX570's BIOS per this post.

I am actually using that same RX570 in my Aurora R3 to type this post in 2021, so it's a fix that has lasted a long time for me, although I still have the bug where Windows 10 won't work if I reboot rather than cold-starting.

The hard/soft reset (cold/hot) is easily fixed. Simply install Renesas Integrated USB 3.0, v.2.0.4.0, A00 chipset drivers. Many on this forum will say that you need this and one other, but through testing I have found that this is the only one needed.

Windows in all of it's "we know better than you" use to overwrite those drivers with the ones that it knew our system needed better that the ones we had selected. I don't think this is the case anymore (assuming you are current updated) as I stopped having to do this. If for some reason you have issues with it overwriting the drivers, first try the setting to not download driver updates or whatever it is, if that doesn't work google how to force windows to use a specific driver (you do this by inserting the GUID of the device you don't want updated into some deep nested setting in gpedit.msc)

I have some questions about the bios mod. Would like to get in touch.

so does this help with the installation of a rx570 into the aurora r3? i just got the driver and it’s fixed the restart issues i had. but when i put in the rx570 the pc doesn’t work? fans spin on the card and the alien lights up but the keyboard doesn’t connect and nothing shows on screen. maybe it’s that the card is incompatible with the pc ? but do you think after i install this driver it’s worth trying again?
