Hi ,
my original hard disc was dying on me. So I removed my HDD and now I wanted to install windows on a SSD that I have, with the help of a USB with windows on it.
I'm in the setup menu, and when I get asked "where i want to install windows" i get the follwing error messag:
New Partition could not be created or existing partitions could not be found.
What do I do??
Windows will not see any drives to install on until F2 BIOS SATA OPERATION is set to AHCI.
F6 mass storage drivers are no longer optional. This applies to XP VISTA 7 8 or 10.
F6 drivers are often called PRE install drivers because you must have access to them BEFORE installing windows.
To make this easier just use the AHCI Driver built into windows from the OEM DVD and you don't need anything to download and extract from .zip/.exe/.cab file. Advance format drives require AHCI or F6 mass storage drivers to install windows.

I suggest you get these now because when they are gone they will never be available again. They work on all dell models both desktop and laptop.
Any drive larger than 120 gigs or made after 2011 is an advanced Format Drive.

If you don't have optical drive get a USB 2.0 version.
This drive works on ALL Dell models from 2006 to 2021 with windows for F12 booting.

first make sure the ssd is working. Is this a new ssd or working ssd pulled from another pc?
When you try a clean install using custom install, does Windows 10 installation show the ssd as unallocated or having previous partitions?
