Go to SolutionArea-51m R2, FPS issues
Hi,
My Alienware Area-51M R2 RTX 2070 Super laptop has been having issues with GeForce Experience crashing after performing a driver update. This is regardless of choosing drivers to be clean installed, the issue with updating causes GeForce to hang unresponsive.
The Nvidia system tray icon won't appear unless a registry change is made. I'm also unable to select my Preferred Graphics Processor in Nvidia control panel settings.
I've taken multiple steps to try and resolve this issue. I did a clean install on Windows 10 twice, clean installed Windows 11, and updated to the latest BIOS. Using Nvidia drivers listed by Dell have not resolved this issue.
GTA V will only run between 80 to 90 FPS on the lowest settings. Both power adapters are operational, even tested other adapters to see if there was an issue.
The other steps taken have been enabling Windows hardware accelerated GPU scheduling + selecting graphics performance preference. I also downgraded the BIOS to 1.8.1 from the latest 1.13.0. I disabled Intel graphics in device manager to ensure nothing was interfering. Lastly, I tried older versions of Windows 10.
I'm out of ideas on this. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
