I recently noticed my x17 R1 has bad thermal and planning to re paste it. The GPU is not an issue since it uses thermal paste, I can easily clean it and re apply with my mx-4. The CPU on the other hand, I am not sure how to do it. I was too afraid that the element 31 will dissolve and comes into contact with the motherboard component if I clean it with alcohol. Anyone know the proper and safe way of removing the element? Also, is it necessary to use liquid metal on the CPU, or I can just use thermal paste?
