Can Avamar back-up from it's 2 different network interface ?

Hi,

I configured eth0 for 10.x.x.x. network and eth1 for 192.x.x.x network. I selected eth0 in dpnnetutil. I installed an avamar client to  192.x.x.x  and successfuly activated it. When  I started a backup job, saw that server was not listening port 27000 on eth1. Is there any way to use 2 network interfaces without nat configuration ?

Thanks.

    Hi,

we tried this in a proof of concept and we were told that the second nic is only usable by replication.

We tested with 4.1. But I haven`t read anything that this was changed in v5.

    SRY.

Yeah its possible to have Avamar on two different networks but I think you need EMC to assist to make sure its done right. I am fairly sure it needs an RPQ.

You should call EMC Support and ask them.

All I can tell you is that it is possible because I have seen it, usually a different NIC is used for replication

    Hi Guys,

i am doing an implentation of avamar 5 in australia. We are putting in 6 nodes and piping out to Networker 7.5.2 for tape out. In my design i want to run a nic from the avamar box over cross over cable to a second nic on the Networker Storage node. thus removing all the traffic from the LAN.

Did or has anyone got this working or have this configured in a production environment? Also does anyone know if extra Nic's can be inserted in to the Avamar Appliance to support this configuration or similar.

Our Lan backbone is only 1gb so i would like to isolate this traffic away from it. Also we will be replicating the Avamar Nodes accross our DC's and tape out is a fabric solution directly attached to the Networker storage node.

    Thanks guys.
