Scheduling checkpoint snaps

I am trying to schedule checkpoints for file system A to last for 4 days and then I want it to be overwritten on day 5. I also want file system A to have a similar schedule on day 2 without overwriting day 1 checkpoint. My experience tells me that day 2 will overwrite day 1 unless I create another schedule. I have several file systems to schedule and they all have the same requirement. I want to keep 4 days of snaps for each day but I don't want to have to create a separate schedule for each file system and each day.

Thanks

For this no need to have multiple schedule for the same file system - one schedule for one file system - mention the frequency of the checkpoints to be taken and then decide total how many checkpoints to retain before overwriting them - for example, if you want one checkpoint in a day and want to retain the data for 4 days, then the number of checkpoints to keep will be 4. But if you take 2 checkpoints per day - the number of checkpoints to keep will be 8 (for 4 days).

So the key here is number of checkpoints to keep based on the frequency.

For 5th day - the checkpoints on day 1 will be overwritten - then for 6th day, checkpoints of day 2 will be overwritten and so on - no need to have different scedule for different days.

You need to have different scheduled job for other file systems as well.

Hope this helps, please feel free to revert back with more details if needed.

yeah, you can do just that with one schedule per file system. I like to schedule my checkpoints from command line, here is an example:

    nas_ckpt_schedule -create fs01_Checkpoint_Daily -filesystem fs01 -description "SNAP for /Accounting" -recurrence daily -start_on 2009-06-03 -runtimes 23:45 -keep 14

so in this example i am creating a schedule for file system fs01, schedule name is "fs01_Checkpoint_Daily", schedule description is "SNAP for /Accounting". The schedule will run every day at 23:45 starting on June 3rd and there will be 14 days worth of checkpoints, one every day. On day 15 (June 17th), Snapsure will refresh checkpoint that was created on June 3rd ..and so on.
