Could someone provide me with a link (s) to some good articles on "how to" zone the brocade switches via the CLI opposed to using the GUI?
I've had some issues with some of my new aliases and zones disappearing when zoned via the GUI, even after saving the changes. So, I thought CLI would be more reliable in the sense that when I make changes, they'll be applied instantly.
What firmware version are you running in what switches ? I've never seen this behavior. What Idid see was human error: created new zone, forgot to add it to the active zoneset....
I am definitely out of date on the firmware, but my boss is hesitant for me to upgrade the firmware because we're replacing these switches within the next 6 months. I'd rather update the firmware, but it's not my call.
Engineers that do some consulting work with us think it's either the firmware, or something "getting lost in translation" with the Java engine. I literally "save" after I create the alias; then "save" after creating the zone; then "save" after adding the config. I then "save" one more time, then enable the changes.

You can check Brocade Fabric OS Administrator Guide and especially Administering Advanced Zoning chapter.
