I/O imbalance on controllers
I have a dual-controller setup with SC8000 controllers.
I recently created a bunch of volumes, to be used for a VMWare setup.
The volumes are now in production, and up and running - though, I noticed a heavy unbalance in the I/O load on the servers.
When creating the volumes, and mappings - i had "Allow the Storage Center to automatically determine the best Controller to activate Volume on".
This how-ever seems to have resulted in ALL volumes having ONE controller as the preferred controller(and thereby all mappings go to that controller, causing a unbalance in I/O load).
1: Is this as intended? That "Allow the Storage Center to automatically determine the best Controller to activate Volume on" does not round-robin between controllers?
2: Is there a safe way to move the volumes to another controller? (Without I/O interruption?)

This could be due to your I/O path mapping in VMware. In vCenter, go to Hosts and Clusters view, select one of your hosts, select the Configuration tab in the right details pane. Select any one of your datastores that are mapped to your Compellent volume. Click on Properties, then Manage Paths. If you are using anything other than Round Robin, then all your IO traffic will be down one path. You can change this using the Path Selection dropdown at the top of the dialog box.
