Unknow severity

Hello,

I am new here so sorry for any stupid questions :)

I have a problem with unknow severity messages. On servers is installed OMSA 7.4, and OME is 2.0. and still receiving from few machines following messages:

Device:XXXXX XXXXX, Service Tag:XXXXXX, Asset Tag:Unknown, Date:2014-12-06, Time:12:39:53, Severity:Unknown, Message:Enterprise: .1.3.6.1.4.1.2592 Trap Ids:Generic:6 Specific:10; (;0=10.251.9.2;1=1.3.6.1.4.1.2592)

I downloaded the newest MIBs and everything is imported.

Any clues what I can do more?

thanks

Lukasz

    Hi Lukasz,

    Thanks for the query.

As you mentioned, traps from this MIB are not defined in OME by default and have to be imported manually. Since you have already imported this MIB, there could be an issue with imported trap definition. The severity assignment for the trap could have gone wrong (or set to Unknown). Please try one of the following steps:

    1. Launch MIBImport utility installed on OME server. Navigate to "Manage Traps" --> "Edit Trap" page. Search for the trap you are having issue with (you can search using trap name or EOID). Check what severity is assigned to the trap, if it is not correct then change it (using the drop down list) and save the changes. Refer the snapshot below:

    2. Another way would be to remove the MIB and import it again with appropriate severity assignments for the traps. MIBImport utility assigns severity for the first time when the MIB is parsed. The severity assignment can further be edited once the parsing is complete.

Hope the suggestions help in resolving the issue.

MIBImport utility may take a few seconds in listing the traps once the search is initiated. It depends upon the number of traps matching the search criteria.

The MIB you should be looking for is DTMIB. Removing it alone and importing again with correct severity assignments should resolve the issue.

    Thanks for the reply.

unfortunately MIB Import Utility didn't find trap with ID .1.3.6.1.4.1.2592.

Do you know which MIB is responsible for that trap? Or I have to remove all off them and add?

    thanks

DTMIB is not published by Dell and hence not included in MIB packages. If this MIB does apply to any of the server components, you will have to import it in OME to receive formatted messages. I see in the snapshot you shared that this MIB is not yet imported, and that is why the unknown severity for the traps.

    Hi,

Thank you for all replies. Rob, you are right, those messages are from DoubleTake. As we are not using DT anymore (software left installed on the servers) I set up to ignore messages.

I have now another problem with Remote Task but I will open another Post as this one can be closed.

    Thanks

    Lukasz
