Updates missing

I have a number of M620 and M710HDs in M1000e chassis' that aren't showing up with any BIOS updates available.  These blades were discovered via the iDRAC method.  I see PERC updates available, and while no BIOS updates are showing I can see we're several revisions behind on the Dell site.

Any ideas?

    Hi there.

So when you say the iDrac method, you discovered these via WSMan and the iDrac?

What BIOS version do you see on the device inventory page?

    Thx

    Rob

I apologize for the confusion, the blades were discovered via the WS-Man method.  For example, on a M620 the BIOS listed is 1.2.6 in OME, but 6.1.0 is released according to Dell's site.  I have the latest catalog installed.

    Couple of things to check:

Does OME show "software inventory" for each of these blade servers ? You can verify by selecting the device (Manage->Devices) and review the info under "Details" tab.

If the software inventory is displayed, follow these steps:

From "Manage -> System Updates->Summary", Click "Advanced Settings".

Click "Enable Downgrades" and "OK". Wait for 10 minutes.

Click "Disable Downgrades" and "OK". Wait for 10 minutes.

Let us know if OME shows more updates for the devices selected.

This works temporarily, but it eventually reverts back to showing no updates for systems that actually need updates.

OME 1.2 has permanently resolved this issue and will be released to public tomorrow (7/9/2013). You can upgrade to OME 1.2 to get a fix for this issue.

    Hi dilipnet,

1.2.1.0 version of OOBPatch DLL shows that the update is applied. For refreshing about box, you can run "iisreset" command and it should update the version in about box.

There are no known issues after applying 1.2.1 patch. Did you try rebooting the server after applying the patch? If services do not start after reboot, it would be better to open a support ticket so that they can take a look at the configuration.

    Regards

    Hi Rob,

My original issue was scheduled status polled was stuck in some percentage and it was not moving forward and still it shows running nearly 2 days

as far as I know nothing is happening in the system now.

I tried to restart the services, stop the task by right clicking, restart the ome machine but no luck.

Then I tried to upgrade the system with patch to fix some other issues I had, still it shows 1.2.0 instead 1.2.1 in ome "about"

but it shows product version as 1.2.1.0 in Dell.OpenManage.Essentials.OOBPatch

    I have two questions

    1. I actually need to know if all theses issues will be fixed if I re-run and ome setup and repair the software ?

    2. is there any known issue once applied the above patch ....? 1.2.1 on 1.2.0

I am not able to upload the different catalog file, i am not able to run a new task, i tried to change the status scheduled to another timing  .... nothing is happening  in the system

    regards

Thanks for the updates. As I mentioned earler, the 1.2.1 patch is applied and abour box update is more of cosmetic in nature. It should not impact the functionality.

Some of the system tasks cannot be stopped while those are running. You can change the schedule for the status poll by going to Manage->Discovery and Inventory->Status schedule. By default it runs every hour and that's the recommended interval for that task.

    thanks for your information,

I tried the option of Inventory->Status schedule and re-configured it to 8 hrs, but it did not create any new task and the running task also there for about 2 days now with no progress.... stop and start the services too no luck.

i tried to upload catalog file again and non of the tasks were executed.

looking forward your valuable information to overcome this issue.

    thanks
