I had 2 windows 2012 servers in workgroup. I presented couple volumes from EqualLogic storage. Initiator name of servers were:
'iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:sp2-vm-sql2'
after joining servers to domain initiator names changed to: iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:sp2-vm-sql2.company.local'.
On all volumes in Access tab I have old name off initiator: iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:sp2-vm-sql2', but still can access and use Dell storage volumes and also was able to create cluster using these volumes.
Do I have to change initiators name in EqualLogic Group Manager volume Access tab properties to new initiators name after join to domain: iqn.1991-05.com.microsoft:sp2-vm-sql2.company.local'.
If yes, is it enough to change the name in EqualLogic Group Manager volume Access tab properties to new initiators name and reboot the server to get volumes connected by new name? How does all this impact my cluster configuration as I have quorum disk configured in the same way.
1. Change/modify the IQN on the array Access tab to be updated for the new IQN which is seen in the MS imitator on the Configuration tab. They have to be identical.
2: On the server the MS initator must have ALL of its iscsi volumes logged out of and have the Favorites tab cleared so that it is empty.
All volumes can then be logged back in.
If using the EqualLogic HIT MPIO DSM, connect and ensure you select the checkbox for MPIO and "Reconnect to this volume on server restart". This will create a new Favorite target entry and a new registry entry on the server, and the HIT should create the additional connections automatically.
If using the Server 2012 native DSM MPIO you need to login again, select the MPIO check box, to connect to the volume the fist time, then manually login each interface used for MPIO (the first login will create the favorite again).
