Battery charging disabled

Battery charging disabled and unable to update bios. My dell battery is 80%(always), plugged in and not charging. Kindly advise how to enable battery charging, any setting to be changed. My bios is older version  and unable to update.

Dell Inspiron15 3521 model. 8 years old.

Please give your kind suggestions.

Run diagnostics (F12 immediately at boot) and watch for any adapter or battery issues. But at 8 years old the battery is probably well past the time when it should have been replaced.

I am not a Dell employee...I am forum volunteer

Serious work on an E5430 and constantly building and working on an i5-6500 Desktop

    Hi,

Thanks for your kind reply. My battery is new one, dell brand and just 3 days older. Ran diagnostics, found no problem and all tests passed. In Bios it says, "your battery is working normally" , in battery health meter, it says " battery is excellent" . But still, not charging. With battery and no  AC adapter, my system is not starting up & not working. Your suggestions please.......

    Thanks!

There are few basic step we would like for you to try .

1- Please the same adaptor on a different system to check if works fine and try a different adaptor on this system.

2- You may drain the residual power of your computer and re-calibrate the battery by following the steps below:

    a.Power off your computer.

b.Remove all the external peripherals (printers, scanners or any other USB device) connected to your computer.

c.Please remove the AC adapter and battery of your computer.

d.Press and hold the power button of your computer for 10-15 seconds to drain the residual power.

    e.Release the power button

f.Keep the battery out for at least 2 - 3 hours.

g.Then insert the battery and charge it overnight with the system powered off.

h.Insert the battery in and connect the AC adaptor.

i.Then power on the computer and see if it works.

Kindly try the following step to check if it works fine.
