Hi! I own a Dell Inspiron 15 7559 i7 not touch screen. I want to ask you about this issue I'm having. The issue I'm facing is that if I open my laptop then power on, there is like a white border, just see the picture. And sometimes it boots slow or sometimes it doesn't boot at all. It is just luck sometimes that I can open my laptop straight without having this issue. After some time it fades though but it still troubles me especially when I study, i'll have to wait time. Thanks in advance for those who will help :) Notice the white-like-border :(
Thank you for your message. I will be glad to look into this for you.
Please try the following steps to check if the issue persists. This will help us diagnose if this is a hardware or driver issue.
Restart the computer & tap F2 to get into BIOS & check if the lines are seen in the BIOS screen.
Run a hardware diagnostic by following the video on this link http://bit.ly/2fJuGXB & check if the issue persists.
Start the computer by holding down the Fn+D key & power on the computer, this should run the LCD bist, check if the issue persists.
Connect an external monitor if available & check if the lines are seen.
For my reference, please click on the message tab next to your avatar– click “New Message” & search for my Dell username (Dell-Sreejith R) & send a private message with the service tag, registered name & email address.
Good day! Sorry for having a very late reply. I had it diagnosed after you instructed me to but I forgot to reply and I just connect my laptop to a external display via hdmi.ac According to the diagnostic, the only problem is the battery. I think it is right because I can feel the battery has degraded, before it can last maybe 4hrs or so but now it is like 1+hrs on some extent. But I'm not fully satisfied of it not having the LCD as a problem too. I think another problem is the LCD because sometimes if I move the screen, a or some wave like appears in the LCD but not on the external display.
I was having the same issue. After reading a few post it seems like a software/driver issue since the Print Screen was able to capture the white border. So I looked in Device Manager to see if there was anything wrong with my drivers. I looks like the Display Adapters and I see two drivers installed (Intel and Nvidia). That looks a bit weird so i deleted the Intel driver and restarted. I haven't encountered the dreaded white border issue. I'll update in a later time to confirm that fix is long term.
Hi Chris, I have the same problem here. But the white halo dissapears within 5 or 10 minutes. What I found searching on other foruns that it can be (guessing) a powersupply problem or something relative for battery.... Here I was using one extra TV connected on the hdmi output and this problem begins when I installed one USB -> VGA display adapter (photo below) to use with an other monitor Samsung 21" VGA model. I will try to avoid use this adapter to know if the problem will be fixed...
