I have a Latitude E6430 laptop with the Core i5-3340m CPU @2.70 GHz
It came with 4GB 1600MHz RAM and this is barely enough for Windows 10 pro, so I have two questions before I buy more RAM.
First question: is my motherboard compatible with DDR3L modules? The Dell Latitude Memory compatibility guide says DDR3, but posts on this forum seem to indicate that DDR3L also works. Being more recent, DDR3L is cheaper and more easily available.
Second question: can I mix module capacities? I am thinking of adding a 8GB module beside the existing 4GB module. Would this lower performance compared to a matched pair of modules? I know some motherboards do dual-channel access of memory banks.

Wow, thank you for doing those tests just for me!
I did a little searching and dual-channel does not make a big difference in general - most articles I read show 5-15% for real workloads. 5% for browsing, word processing, etc and up to 15% while gaming. And that was for gamer motherboards.
In my case, just stopping the constant swapping will change my world anyway.

Try this:
Go to “Advanced System Settings”
In the “Performance” box click on “Settings”
Click on “Adjust for Best Performance”
Then click on “Apply”
Reboot:

Hi, it is my first message. I have just replaced the RAM of my laptop with 2x8 Gb= 16Gb, MICRON with same modules (DDR3L @1600) and it started normally. When I check for the MEMORY in BIOS it shows the correct amount but for speed it says 1333 and operating as dual interleave. Any explanation on speed and dual interleave?

If I install two Ram (8Gb Ddr3L 1600Mhz/ Pc3L-12800S) will support? TOTAL-16GB RAM!

1. Yes you will be able to use DDR3L on your system board.
2.Yes you can mix modules.
Just tested:
DDR3 4GB and DDR3L 8GB for a total of 12GB.
DDR3L 4GB and DDR3L 8GB for a total of 12GB.
Funny thing is in the BIOS it lists them as DDR3 and as "Dual Interleave" ???
As far as performance goes it is hard to say???
