Update on XPS 13/15 2016 Developer Edition availability

Any news on the availability for any of the new XPS machines in a Developer Edition?

And do you know exactly what specifications will be used? I.e. 13? 15? Ram/screen/etc.?

Thanks, Phil.

@DELL-JARED while i'm eager to see the 2016-DE-XPS13 devices being available for order it just broke my heart that there won't be a 16gb + fhd combinatiion (i5 would do for me).

non-glare display is mandatory for me and with this size i really don't care about touch/4k as i want to work with that fine piece of hardware so it looks like i have to live with non-upgradeable 8gb...

    +1 for the sticker!

that would indeed be a very nice community project, maybe someone is connected to printing industry and is able to have a relatively small batch of high quality sputnik stickers in the size of the dell-logo produced at a reasonable pricepoint =)

anyway, i'm happy to hear about the efforts being put into linux-driver-support and wonder if the patches are flowing upstream so debian itself and other distros might benefit from the extended support and allow users to use a wider range of linux-distros on their dell sputniks.

I'd like to second BELETTE's desire to gain more knowledge about the drivers and its restrictions. even if i wouldn't say that i can't live without a working hdmi-adapter it would be good to know what we'd have to expect if we don't want to stick to the pre-installed linux.

as it's pretty clear that dell cannot guaratee that the drivers will work with a wide set of linux-distros i see enough reasons to aim for having the drivers available for integration into other distros as there are several reasons for wanting a custom installation (full-disk encryption and bloat-removal being some of the very relevant ones for me).

Will it be 13 or 15? And will it be available in EU in the next 10 days? I need to get new laptop for work, and i don't want to buy new MacBook.

Thanks for the response. Could you be more specific? And do you have any concrete dates?

    Hi George,

Thanks for the update, can't wait to get my hand on the new edition !

Do you know if there's any chance you'll do the i7 / 16GB build with the full HD display ? I got no use for QHD and would rather get a longer battery life.

    Best regards,

    Romain
